Booking, Refund and Course Policies

What your course registration fees include
When you register for a course at Wild About Sailing, your course fees include
   • Professional instruction by a Sail Canada-certified instructor
   • Evening orientations, theory sessions and exam writing sessions
   • Access to and supervised instruction on our school boats
   • Course certificates and log books for “Learn” and “Skipper” courses
   • Certification processing and recording with Sail Canada
Your course fees do not always include the purchase of texts for your course. We add GST and any applicable sales taxes to your course fees and books.Unless otherwise stated, full payment is due at the time of registration for scheduled or custom training courses unless otherwise specified. Please contact us if you require alternative arrangements.Age, physical requirements, and waivers for your course
Students need to be over 16 years of age and are required to sign a waiver. All students should review the following Sail Canada’s physical requirements associated with these courses.
“These training sessions will require short periods of moderate upper body exertion and a moderate level of arm strength. Participants will have the opportunity to experience sun, wind, spray, rain, and temperatures consistent with the time of year they take part in this activity. When underway, the vessel may exhibit irregular motion due to wind and waves and temperatures may be cooler than on land. Participants will be expected to learn and demonstrate skills and perform tasks while the vessel is at the dock, at anchor, and when the vessel is underway. In a day sailing format, vessels will be underway for varying periods of time (up to 8 hours), during daylight, in light to moderate wind and sea conditions. These sessions are suitable for most fitness levels and will provide a good body core workout.”If Wild About Sailing has to cancel a course ...
From time to time, we may need to reschedule or cancel a course due to factors beyond our control (e.g., weather). If we do, we will offer you a full refund of your course fees. We cannot compensate you for travel or accommodation expenses related to any cancellations.
Please ensure you have appropriate travel and/or trip insurance, if required.Missed Classes, Sailing Days and Exams
We want you to get the most out of every course and will work with you if you have to miss a class, a sailing day or an exam due to personal circumstances such as illness, a family emergency, or a death in the family.
Makeup sessions are subject to availability in our current calendar. However, all coursework must be completed in the same calendar year to qualify for certification.
If you cancel or re-book your scheduled course ...
If you cancel your course up to 28 days before it starts, you will receive a full refund.
If you need to rebook, you may select another available course up to 28 days before your course starts.There is an administration fee of $75 if you rebook within 28 days of your course starting or rebook more than once.You are ineligible for a refund if you cancel within 28 days of your course starting.If you cancel or re-book your custom training course ...If you cancel your course up to 28 days before your custom training starts, you will receive a full refund.You are ineligible for a refund if you cancel within 28 days of the start of any intermediate, private or custom training course.If you need to rebook up to 28 days before, you may rebook another available date in the same calendar yearWithin 14 days of your course, there is an administration fee of $75If you request more than one rebooking, there is an administration fee of $75

WAIVER, RELEASE OF LIABILITY, AND INDEMNITY AGREEMENT
READ CAREFULLY BEFORE SIGNING. THIS IS A LEGALLY BINDING DOCUMENT.By completing this form electronically, I acknowledge and agree to the following terms to participate in sailing lessons, coaching, or related activities, including all scheduled sessions of any course I have registered for (the "Activities") with Wild About Sailing Ltd. ("Wild About Sailing") in British Columbia, Canada.UNDERSTANDING THE RISKSI understand and acknowledge that participation in the Activities involves inherent risks that could result in personal injury, illness, death, or property damage, including but not limited to: falling overboard or capsizing; drowning or near-drowning incidents; injuries from equipment (such as booms, ropes, winches); collisions with other boats or fixed objects; cold water exposure and hypothermia; weather hazards including strong winds, lightning, and storms; running aground or striking underwater hazards; accidents in remote locations with limited or delayed access to medical facilities; and exposure to sun, wind, cold, and other elements.I understand these dangers may occur due to my own actions, the actions of others, equipment failure, weather conditions, water conditions, or human error by the sailing school staff, instructors, or volunteers.VOLUNTARY ASSUMPTION OF RISKBy signing, I freely and voluntarily choose to participate in the Activities with full knowledge and acceptance of all risks involved, including those resulting from negligence or error on the part of Wild About Sailing. I agree that my participation is entirely at my own risk.RELEASE OF LIABILITY AND WAIVER OF CLAIMSIn consideration of participating in the Activities, I release and forever discharge Wild About Sailing and its directors, officers, employees, volunteers, instructors, agents, representatives, successors, and assigns (the "Released Parties") from all liability for any loss, damage, expense, or injury (including death) I or my next of kin may suffer from my participation, due to any cause, including negligence, breach of contract, or breach of statutory duty. I waive all current and future claims against, and agree not to sue, the Released Parties for such injury, loss, or damage, even if caused by their negligence.INDEMNITY AGREEMENTI agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Released Parties from all third-party claims, demands, actions, damages, losses, costs, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees on a full indemnity basis) arising directly or indirectly from, or connected with, my participation in the Activities. For greater certainty, this indemnity specifically includes any such claims, demands, or actions brought by, or on behalf of, my heirs, next of kin, executors, administrators, assigns, or representatives as a result of my participation in the Activities.PARTICIPANT RESPONSIBILITIESI agree to:- Follow all instructions and safety guidelines from my sailing instructor
- Wear a properly fitted and fastened personal flotation device (PFD) at all times when on or near the water
- Inform the instructor of any physical limitations, medical conditions, or medications that might affect my safety or ability to participate
- Remain under the instructor's supervision during all Activities
- Not participate if I am under the influence of alcohol, cannabis, or other drugs that could impair my judgment or physical abilities
- Take reasonable care of all equipment and boats, and pay for any damage I cause through negligence or misuse.
EQUIPMENT AND MEDIA RELEASEWild About Sailing provides boats and sailing equipment for use during the Activities. If using personal equipment (including personal flotation devices), I am responsible for ensuring it meets safety standards and is in good working condition. I grant Wild About Sailing permission to take and use photographs, videos, or other recordings of me for any lawful purpose (including publicity, illustration, advertising, website content) without compensation.OVERNIGHT STAYS (IF APPLICABLE)If staying overnight on a boat: all safety rules apply; I accept basic facilities and limited space/privacy; I remain responsible for my safety and conduct during non-sailing hours.GENERAL PROVISIONSThis Agreement is governed by BC law, and litigation shall occur solely within British Columbia. If any part of this Agreement is found void or unenforceable, the remaining portions shall remain in full force and effect. This Agreement represents the entire agreement between the parties. I acknowledge I have had sufficient time to read, understand, and seek independent legal advice (or waive my right to do so) before signing.ELECTRONIC SIGNATUREI understand and agree that by typing my full name in the designated field on the registration form and checking the acknowledgment box, I am providing my electronic signature to this Agreement. My electronic signature is legally equivalent to a handwritten signature under British Columbia's Electronic Transactions Act (SBC 2001, c. 10). I intend my electronic signature to have the same binding legal effect as if I had signed this Agreement in ink.CONFIRMATIONI HAVE READ THIS ENTIRE AGREEMENT AND UNDERSTAND THAT BY SIGNING IT I AM GIVING UP IMPORTANT LEGAL RIGHTS, INCLUDING THE RIGHT TO SUE. I am signing this agreement freely and voluntarily without any inducement, assurance, or guarantee.My name, email, emergency contact, and electronic signature are collected at the time of registration.FOR PARTICIPANTS UNDER 19 YEARS OF AGEAs parent/legal guardian of the minor participant named above, I HEREBY: authorize their participation; acknowledge I have read, understood, and agree to all terms of this Agreement on their behalf and on my own behalf; accept full responsibility for all medical expenses incurred due to the minor's participation; and agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Released Parties from any claims, demands, or lawsuits brought by or on behalf of the minor participant, including claims after the minor reaches the age of majority. I acknowledge that I am signing this document on behalf of a minor and that the minor and I shall be bound by all the terms of this Agreement.Parent/guardian name and electronic signature are collected at the time of registration.
